So, I’ve noticed that you can only have one Facer watch face on your watch at a time. On top of that, when you change the face, you have to (re)set up the customizable complications every single time.
Does this seem acceptable? I personally will never use the Facer app because of this. It makes me think others won’t either. What a pain!!!

Yes, the new version (WFF compatible) only supports a single face. This is different from the earlier versions, which allowed up to four faces to be stored in watch memory along with more configuration options.

Are there any plans for improvement? Why can’t the Facer app just install the APK on the watch like the Play Store does. It would be seamless then.

It’s not that Facer lacks the ability, technically they could push an APK. The real blocker is Google Play policy. I know this first-hand from publishing my own apps/games: Google does not allow any third-party app to install or distribute APKs directly on WearOS devices. That functionality is restricted to the Play Store itself, enforced by the Developer Distribution Agreement. If Facer tried to implement it, they’d be in immediate violation and risk being removed from the Play Store entirely. That’s the simple reason it will never happen.

They at least need to fix the fact that complications need to be reconfigured every time a face is changed.

I found a work around for this. Using ADB AppControl - Official website. Free download on my PC, I can harvest the APK for any Facer set watch face, and then said APK can be side loaded and installed permanently (can still be deleted like any other watch face, but it doesn’t disappear from the watch when changing faces) on my watch, and then also retains or complication customizations. Even Facer Creator created faces show up as APK files on the watch.
It’s actually kind of disturbing that people can grab the APKs and freely share and distribute them.
Like I said in the other thread; That’s genuinely worrying to read, especially for those of us who invest serious time and creativity into our designs.
The fact that faces can be harvested, shared, and permanently sideloaded so easily doesn’t just affect one creator, it affects everyone trying to build something sustainable on this platform. Not happy about this.
Facer replied to my comment in the other thread saying they’re aware of it and working on it. I probably let the cat out of the bag. I’m certain they would want people knowing this is possible.
