This is one of the reasons I gave up the race to the top of the charts. It makes a mockery of the whole idea of a chart. But we’ve covered that in another thread. :smirk:

The race for 1st place is pointless anyway.
The users do not rate the quality of the work.
Simple is more popular anyway.
So works like mine “(work in progress)” are of interest to very few.

I currently have 3 faces with the same design in different colors in the top 100.
Every good graphic artist builds something like this in a short time.

Actually it’s sad.
But I experience that every day at my job.

What post do you mean? I’d like to see it

Sadly the whole thing is a bit of a Lottery. Ther is a a lot of Luck involved in getting into the Top 100/50. Better if your Face is in the Top 50 since that is all that is shown in the App. I have over 100 Faces out there and have Charted about 3 times I think. I I’m very Intrested in the ones that slowly climb up my own most synced chart. They are obviously found by Senendipidy or from a Search. It seems like a Promo on FB has some Influence these Days.

Advertising on social media is helpful, but the impact isn’t that great.

This one morphed, but the whole thing covered some of the big problems with facer -

I always say… the popularity is inversely proportional to the amount of work you put in to designing a face.

My most popular face, in fact, most popular series, is something I contributed exactly two graphical elements - a sunrise and a sunset icon. Everything else is text or Facer built in functionality. It’s not something I would wear, and I really hate it. People go nuts for it. I’d rather spend time working on something I enjoy designing… something I want to wear, something that was a challenge, and something which has some kind of clever elements going on (clever is relative  ).

I feel the same.

I actually only do the complex things for myself in order to have done them.
And to prevent accusations, I do this as a “work in progress”

Someone mentioned this a long time ago, and at the time I thought it was just conspiracy theory, but now I’m pretty convinced that Facer interferes with visibility, chart likelihood, and sync likelihood. I doubt that they manipulate the charts themselves (beyond their stupid rules for inclusion in the chart - another thing that’s not documented!), or manipulate sync numbers, but I do think they interfere with visibility. The way that the floodgates can open and close on a dime, is just too bizarre to be natural. And of course there are other ways that users themselves manipulate the charts.

I was just thinking of Posting something a bit near the Mark . Wondering if the face I have in the Charts at the moment would disappear ???

I’ve tried “C4SIO”, and that was close enough to delete my watch face…

I understand the need for such controls.
But you can’t rely on bots on this difficult subject.
Such controls still have to be done by humans.

Oddly enough, I have used CASINO and never had a problem. I guess it’s just enough different that it flies under the bot radar.

How so?

I deleted all my screenshots when I stopped caring about it. Also not getting into it with an FCP.

Facer is in the US. They have to follow US copyright and trademark laws.

I just came across the photo of an interesting vintage hybrid watch, noticed it uses the same hour hand design that is being called a Rolex design in this thread, and I remembered reading this post but could not remember where it was… had to scramble to find it.

Then I kept searching, and came across generic replacement hands being sold by this very well-known supplier of jewelry findings and tools. Same design, “Mercedes style” is what they call theirs.

So is it really a protected design? And, will it cause issues publishing here?

To avoid such questions and problems, just create your own theme.
No matter how good a copy is, it’s always a copy.

It’s cooler to make your own anyway.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes, the result counts
do something of your own and be proud of it, no matter what others say.
