The Google Pixel Watch 2 - NO Wireless Charging

Yeah thanks Peter . I get that and the Active out now and again . I have kept a Huawei Phone rather than giving it away to be its companion . Thank you for the reminder . I am going to open the box now . When I was given the GT2 I wore it on my other wrist . Bit OTT two smart watches . Comparing the Seconds hands is interesting .

I have done that as well. I have noticed my Fossil ticks even on watchfaces that the seconds hand is set for smooth. The GW watches will always show smooth except when told differently.

Ha Ha Ha . @BIELITZ
Now I have your attention . Facer Face with HR on and Galaxy Wearable HR on Continuously . 11:45 pm 18th 100 % 18:00 pm 19th 30% . So . 18 hrs used 70% = 3.88% per hour .
HR off on both . 22:15 19th 100% to 16:15 20th 38% 18 hrs 62 % used = 3.44% per Hour .
Hands up . Small difference . Watch is on charge.

Well, ya’ll - my power consumption test won’t be near as precise as Russ’ however it’s 6:25 p.m. here and I’m at 100% with a non-Facer face. I am going to put my current Facer face on as shown below and do one more top-off charge before I go to sleep. With non-Facer faces the last few nights I’ve been waking up with 80+ % battery and only needing to charge once a day (unless I play with faces). So this will tell me how much of my power consumption is coming from Facer and how much from playing around, changing faces every few minutes. Based on Russ’ tests, it doesn’t look like very much is from Facer.

I have to say what I did was logged but not realy very Scientific. Especialy since the Compass was hungry . But I was surprised that the demand was not as bad As I thought . That isn’t he problem with Impressions .

Well, my guess-timate was fairly good - this morning at wake-up, battery was at 76% with my Facer face. I haven’t put the watch on the charger yet, but changed back to a non-Facer face. It’s close to noon now and battery is at 64%. If I don’t do any more changing faces or other fiddling, it should last until my usual right before bed charge.

Gee, I wish my turn to get Wear OS 4 would hurry up. It is supposed to show up for the original Pixel along with the October update.

During the night since midnight to now 9:00 my watch GW4 Classic has used . 17% power . That is under 2% Per Hour . I actualy only have two faces on my watch .One My Facer and the othe a Super Eco made on WFS . I had a good clear out last night .
I have switched off the WiFi and the Location on the Compass . Although the Compass seems to wake up when I go on a little journey any where and it can not be switched off . Who is intrested where I go on Saturday .
I do have location switched on for Open Weather but it seems they only Poll the Sensor 4 times a Day .
I am delighted . HR is on Continuous and Steps work fine .
I think we are getting there . Well done Facer , Samsung , Android and Google / WOS. I can not imaging the Meetings they must have to sort this out .

Oh that sounds very promising. I don’t have Wear OS 4 yet (hoping for it to show up any day now). Watch (Original Pixel) was charged up to 99% at 9:00 p.m. last night. When I got up this morning it was 82%. This is with a Facer face.

Keeping that face, but not playing or changing faces, it’s now 4:15 p.m. and the watch has 52% battery. So, I think it will definitely hold until the bedtime charge.

Even with Facer, I’m still getting about 24 hours, so that’s a great improvement.

@masterboyhr

I had mentioned in my last post about the wear app said that the battery life was 2 days an 22 hours. I’m beginning to think there is a bug in that timing listed in the phone app. After 6 hours of running my test with Facer watchfaces only the same section said that it had been 4 day and 8 hours since the last full charge “in six hours of actual run time”. So I will be repeating that test again like I did this one only with keeping the time myself.

So, I took the GW 6 Classic off the charge and started wearing it Saturday night at 21:30 (9:30 pm) and run with Facer watchface which had heart rate and had the heart rate set for every 10 minutes and doing sleep and SpO2 monitoring. After two nights and a full 48 hours of use (it’s now 19:45 “9:45 pm” Monday), I’m ending this with 20% battery. That comes up to roughly 1.66% battery drain per hour of use. Which is a good 12 hours more than I got when I had my GW4 Classic. I always use my watch to view notifications and dismiss them. I also will delete emails I am not interested in through the watch. I normally get 3 full days out of my GW5 Pro with the much larger battery, but smaller display. I’m going to call this one a winner. Like I said I will repeat the test just using Samsung stock faces next time and see if there is any difference, I’m betting if there is, it won’t be much.

Thank you so much. I am really looking forward to getting Wear OS 4 since it’s promised (and supposed to be now rolling out) for the original Pixel Watch. Since Verizon’s promise of a “trade” turned out to be nonsense, I will wait on the Pixel 2 for more reviews. Better battery life seems to be really happening and do I dare hope for a step counter that really works past 999 and other elements that really count (like moon age)? :smile_cat:

Just remember, instead of the Pixel Watch 2 you could always get a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 44mm. It would be approximately the same size as the Pixel. It’s always good to have options.

Yes, I sure could and almost went with the 5 Pro before the 6 arrived. However, I’ve been a resident of the Fitbit ecosystem/universe for over a decade. That’s what I like most about the Pixel besides the size for my small wrist and it really is pretty - I didn’t have to learn a whole new language. Sure, I wish Google hadn’t bought Fitbit and ruined my Versa 4, but oh well, it is what it is. So, at the moment, if I can get semi-decent battery life and a step counter that works, I’ll stay with my original Pixel until the battery won’t hold a charge any more (as happens to all of them eventually). I have learned the hard way - NO MORE Verizon promotions - I’ll just treat myself to the Pixel 2. I will be glad to be able to use your very cool faces along with those of Facer’s other great designers.

My Battery Test Results (first battery test I’ve had the patience for) :smile_cat:
Original Pixel Watch tested under the following conditions:

  1. Fully charged to 100% at 11:00 a.m. yesterday, 10/24/2023.
  2. Wearing the following Facer face:
Purrstachio2CAT - Loopy 2 - watch face for Apple Watch, Samsung Gear S3, Huawei Watch, and more - Facer
  3. Face modified, resaved and resynced two separate times.
  4. Two treadmill workouts, 30 minutes each.
  5. Pixel’s “Battery Saver” feature turned on - the only thing I think this does is to kill the “lift wrist to display” feature.

Now, at 12:15 p.m. 10/25/2023, battery shows 22%.

So, I conclude I am getting somewhat over 24 hours per full charge. It would probably get to approximately 27 or 28 hours if I let it get closer to ‘dead.’ Not too bad considering it’s the original Pixel with Wear OS 3.5. Really looking forward to that October update (Wear OS 4).

. Cool Well Done . I make that 3.1%ph at the end of the test . I think I am right in saying 4.16 is 24 hrs . So anything under 4 is more than a day . Brilliant :::)))
