Off topic, yes, but it’s an important topic even so.
I have seen the sort of watchfaces @russellcresser is talking about and i would also classify them ss Spam. But I have to say that i haven’t seen any for a while now. I recall a discussion about the number of times one could publish a face over a short period of time…
Yeah Sorry to go off Topic with a Pet Beef again .
It definitely is spam Russell. I look at the recent faces and just despair at the amount of sh1t that is posted. A talented designers work just gets lost in a sea of banality.
@msimons :
Not sure, but your purchases should not have vanished. They may not be compatible with your current Watch operating system, hence not available. What if you go to your Facer App and choose non-WearOS 6 watch.
Do you see your purchases then? If yes, try and ask the creators of those faces to make them WFF compatible. If one of those is from me, do let me know.
Yes, over the years we have had several discussions in the community about multiple posts by one person, thus flooding the Recent page. Maybe there should be a new topic for discussion of this. Have any of you contacted Support with your concerns?
Sadly I do not know how to follow up on a Ticket number . We raised a topic on this some time ago .
.
As a consumer, I don’t care who’s at fault. My 2 year old watch worked just fine with plenty of purchased watch faces prior to the OS upgrade.
I installed another watch face app and guess what? They had a huge warning about upgrading OS and losing watch faces. They even offered credits for anyone who was affected. THATS how Facer could have handled this whole process. If I would have been warned a head of time, I never would have updated my watch.
All the watch faces I’ve purchased outside of Facer work just fine. Since I can no longer preview watch faces I’m very reluctant to purchase anymore from Facer because they could vanish at anytime and they will just blame Google. Sorry guys, I know you are caught in the middle but you could have handled the transition much better (like the other app did).
You’re not wrong. I just think the folks at Facer didn’t see a lot of this coming.
Possibly, or saw it as an opportunity to sell more faces since our library is essentially wiped out. They had to know what the outcome was going to be but chose not to do or say anything so not letting them off the hook so easily. Especially when I’m seeing on other apps how they notified customers and offers credit for purchases.
I highly doubt that was a single thought. I’ve not seen ANY kind of behavior from this company that would even come close to suggesting that, or anything like that.
there are loads of crappy faces all over Google play, and the Galaxy store was even worse (is that still even a thing?), and yes there are loads of crappy faces all over Facer. But naturally that’s going to happen when you create a platform where ANYONE can publish as often and as much as they want for free. But, fortunately it’s very easy to avoid ever seeing any of the free faces if one should choose to go that route, and on Facer I’d argue it’s much easier than any other platform or storefront to zero in on the quality faces.
It’s not a fair comparison to pit “real designers” of WFS with the random masses on Facer. But if you want to compare the “real designers” of WFS with “real designers” of Facer, I’d argue that the best designers in the world in general have made their home on Facer and there is more diversity, creativity, and quality to be found on Facer than anywhere else. Clearly I have a vested interest and therefor a bias, but it is also my objective opinion.
I personally think that Facer are doing their best . They respect the opinion of People on the Platform and Forum . Most of the Issues are Technical . They are not conscious decisions . Yes the business model is theirs but that is the reason they are here . As people are aware I am sure there are plenty of other platforms that work OK on Mobile phones . People are talking about another platform that uses WFS as their Creator . In their previous life they had a mobile app creator Dead soon . Enjoy .
I can get behind this. You’re making sense.
Don’t get used to it ![]()
I use my phone or computer to see previews of watch faces that are compatible with my watch. I was not aware that they could vanish at “anytime”.
Yesterday I updated my 5 PRO to WOS6 and the premium watch face which had about 60 unsupported things according to the creator for WFF worked completely intact and great as I designed it but it is still Before I started messing around in the facer app. Then it all went to hell. The compass worked, the sunrise and sunset worked, the phone’s battery level worked, all the VAR signs worked. As soon as I Started digging around in the app and at first it didn’t read any other watch face. The app said I had a different one than the one on the watch. It still worked but it was already unsupported. I had to undergo it this evening Some reinstalls of the application and the like. So my belief is that all the watch faces will work on wear os6 but for some reason the facer is fucking up. Again.
I’m already giving up on Facer, I’m leaving it and I’ll try to come back after 2 years, what has changed? If anything has changed at all. I’ll make my favorite watch face in Android Studio so I don’t lose it and I’ll be happy. Especially since as soon as you open anything from the guy, pop-up windows appear convincing you to buy everything at the most amazing prices. Sucks.
Yes, Facer is automatically blocking faces that could work. Whatever their criteria of determining what faces will work or not is blanket across the platform. If you go into settings on your phone and change your watch to non OS6, the faces now show as available. FACER is systematically and on their own blocking the Faces. I have faces purchased through Google Play and have not been updated in a very long time that work just fine. Watchmaker is another app for faces that I have for years before transitioning to Facer and all those OLD faces still work just fine. At least let us attempt to send the face to our watches and see if they work.
See the attached screenshot of another app and how they notified their customers. Why did Facer not do the same? I’ve been a product director for over 10 years. I would have been fired if I did what Facer did, which is NOTHING.
I was not aware of that. I have created several thousand faces. Facer has not blocked any of them. As far as I know, the designers have been converting older designs for WFF compatibility. Maybe some type of blanket conversion would actually be a good thing for designers who do not have time to update their work.
As far as i know many watchfaces were automatically converted en masse - at least those that didn’t use the tags that don work with WFS. At the least that was the case with mine…but then again i don’t have the number of syncs like you guys
