Welcome Our New Facer Creator Partners

I got an email this morning from Facer.

Nice to see new partners here but WHY are the 8 out of the 12 new partners have “0” faces and they become a partner? But a lot of others including myself must have 3,000 syncs on 1 face for 30 days. Completely make no sense and this would be unfair to everyone else. This is total BS!!!

Maybe those just have plenty interesting faces on their portfolio on other platforms.
That is the second question they ask you, when you apply for partner now.
Its like, if you have been good without Facer, then Facer will gladly have piece of you too.
Check for example on playstore.

ok, so, how can they have 3k syncs in a 30day period when they have “0” faces here on facer to sync? It’s not fair to everyone else that would like to be partner.

Unless you are successfully selling watches on Play store, you will not have a chance. Partners is for well established watch maker professionals. Not hobbyists unfortunately. Enjoy the free watch creator and don’t bother with Pro. If you really want to go pro, suggest you create watches on Watch Face Studio and get those published direct in Play Store. Theres still alot of hurdles to cover if you want this, but that seems to be the way. All of the partners recently added are well established already outside of Facer.

I would agree that their latest moves suggest they were aiming to bring established Play Store designers on board. My own opinion is some of them are deserving, but there are a few Facer community designers who stand out more then quite a few of those they chose to add and would have deserved it more. But Facer is obviously committed to growth (which in the end creates more opportunity) and this was likely a step calculated towards that goal.

I made partner without using Pro. I would also have liked to see promotion from within.

Precisely!!!

Yea, but so are a lot of FACER users here also not Google or any other place. Like Rator said, “promotion from within”

Did you get promoted? 3000 syncs in 30 days is insane, I barely make 5 to 6 downloads per watch face, imagine that.

No, my complaint is that people are getting “Partner” and DOES NOT have “1” Face here on Facer. This is what is making angry and it’s not fair to TRUE Facer user here. It’s total BS!!!

The thing is, those partners don’t need Facer. Facer needs them. It’s not worth moaning over. Even if you became partner you would then moan about the complexity of releasing watch faces (its much more stringent) and the monetization is probably not great. Enjoy the freedom of being able to release a watchface when you want and modify it when ever you want.

did you read what I wrote past the part about some of them being deserving? I agreed with you  If it was based on quality alone (already a flawed criteria because it’s so subjective), personally I would shuffle a few out and a few in. But I don’t have a voice in these decisions

To be honest I’m not sure how to reply to that other than to repeat what I’ve said before when this topic came up. Read what kvansant said about Facer’s expanding. I believe there is an option for everyone to apply again. Why are you burning your bridges with comments like the above?

That may be part of the plan based on the needs of the business.

Ok, I guess no one doesn’t understand my concern. But it’s fine. Go ahead and promote outside of Facer and not promote loyal paying Facer users here. It’s pretty sad!

I understand that you are frustrated with partner selection. Many have been promoted from within Facer over the years. This time it was different along with other changes to Facer. Next month it might be active members from within. Change is not “sad”. Change is good. It is doubtful that partner selection has anything to do with “loyal paying”. I was not paying when I was invited. Neither did I think I was entitled to anything for any reason simply because I had been actively designing here for a couple of years.

What I am saying is, WHY for use Facer creators, have to have 1 watch face to get 3k syncs in a 30day period and outside promotion don’t have to. MAKES NO SENCE and not FAIR the creators here that post here on facer. Isn’t being “partner” to get out faces on Google Play? But we have to get a single face get 3k syncs within a 30day period. Make this make sense!!

I don’t think the X number of syncs in X number of days is anything set in stone. But gauging syncs is at least an objective means to measure a designer’s appeal within Facer. But the key thing to always remember about the Partner program is it is an “invitation” in the end. That’s why Linlay says don’t burn bridges in the community. It’s not simply a stats checklist and you’re in.

In this particular instance, the outside designers they brought in were obviously brought in because of the WearOS 6 news and Facer’s return to NEW Samsung watches after missing out on a year. It makes sense from the perspective of trying to use established popular Play Store designers as a means to lure this huge market of Watch 7 and 8 users back to Facer or to discover Facer for the first time because Facer has not been available to them for a year.

As I said before, Facer has shown they are committed to growth, they have a proven track record of growth, many of the moves they make are made from that business perspective. If there was no growth there would be NO new partners added at all. So yes, you don’t have to like it, and it’s ok to be frustrated about it, but it makes sense. If it was only about quality and syncs in Facer, then Brazen would be in already

How to become a Premium Designer and sell your watch face designs on Facer - Announcements - FACER Community

I’m not burning anything, I’m just stating about something that isn’t fair to us Facer creators. I’m sorry but imo they shouldn’t promote outside people that aren’t even using Facer to create faces. That’s all I’m saying.
